MBRP is an 8 week class that combines relapse prevention strategies with mindfulness exercises. The course was developed by Psychologists at the University of Washington and has been shown to have significant benefit to clients with any substance use disorder or behavioral addiction (sex, food, gambling, etc), especially in reducing the intensity and frequency of cravings and increasing the amount of time abstinent. A typical class meeting involves: 2-3 guided mindfulness exercises/meditations, starting at 5 minutes and increasing in length as the program continues; 2-3 discussions of exercises/meditation and relapse-related topics; 15-minute break.
